Australia FIFA World Cup Blog

Australia has finally qualified for the World Cup after 32 long and agonising years! We are off to Germany, and I cannot believe it. I am a fan of all Australian sport and write for the Victorian Amateur Football Association, and the President of one of Australia's largest cricket clubs, and had my best man at my wedding play for the Socceroos. And now I am off to Germany for the trip of a lifetime. This is my story.

Less Than 50 Days to Go

I have not posted anything for a while, as it has been pretty hectic with Easter and cricket finals, but I just glanced across at my count down timer and can see that we have 49 days to go to the big day.

Things are really starting to get exciting.

My tickets turned up for the Greece game. That is going to be a huge evening. I cannot wait. I will have to go out and buy some scarves and beanies for the occasion and then I can take them with us to Germany a couple of weeks later.

It is also great to see a lot of the boys doing well in their domestic leagues. Dukes is on fire at Boro, while our other stars are all getting good game time. It was also nice to hear Ronaldo slagging us by saying he had never heard of Kewell or Viduka. Classic stuff, which will only be to our advantage come June. I sincerely think we can surprise the Brazlians and perhaps sneak a point out of that match, which will certainly put us on the front foot to qualify in our last game against Croatia.

In any event, it is 49 days to go, and as we get closer and closer, I guess I will be posting more entries into my World Cup diaries.

Watch this space.
